COMMON FITTING PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOLUTIONS

You bought a pattern for straight woven sleeveless top with only a bust dart at the front, and would like to convert it to a dart less top. So you close the suppression of the bust dart into the hem line.
Result: the front of the top rides up, and all looks a little like maternity wear.
There is too much width in the lower part of the front part of the bodice as opposed to the back part.
Instead of putting all the width of the bust dart into the hem line, close out only 1/4 of the width of the bust dart into the hemline and move the rest, 3/4 of the bust dart into the middle of the armhole.
This will balance the garment - your armhole becomes deeper, which lends itself to straighter, wider shapes.
