HOW TO START

Step 1: Choose an Element

Have a look at our categories (column on the left).
Choose the element you would like and click on the green "Buy Now" button (not illustrated in this example). If you need more details on the payment  or download process, go to
"Buying Patterns".

Example:

Step 2: Patterns You Need

Pattern Construction:

You do not need any patterns if you decide to purchase Pattern Drafting - Woven Fabrics or Stretch Wear. All you need are your personal measurements.

Pattern Cutting Courses:

You will need a full set of basic patterns including fitted front and back bodices, fitted front and back skirts and a fitted sleeve. If you choose the Intermediate Course, front and back fitted trousers are required.

The full set of basic patterns are included in Part 1, Lesson 1 of the Beginners Course; alternatively you can download the set, free-of-charge, here.

Styles:

For some of our elements in this group you will need patterns to start with - the type of pattern
required is indicated in red under each module:

Patterns required for this module:
Which are, in our example, fitted skirt patterns.

You may have these patterns already in your possession or want to acquire them
from elsewhere (commercial pattern providers, internet....) -
if you are unsure how these patterns should look like, please download our small scale basic patterns from here  free-of-charge - this will give you an idea, how the full size basic patterns should look like.
If there are slight differences between your patterns and the design of our small
scale ones, you will still be able to work with the elements.

You can, alternatively, create your own individual patterns - have a look at our Pattern Construction page - drafting your own patterns.

For our example, we use the following skirt blocks, downloaded from our set of free small scale patterns:

Step 3: Work with your Downloaded Element

All you need to do now is to follow the instructions of the element you have downloaded.
Most elements include detailed instructions, a working drawing and illustrations:
